The netting job is by far more important that the reeling in of the fish. But, on occassion I have had co's who were really good at netting, and preferred to net as they were fearful that they might mess up while reeling in the fish.

In all of the years I fished, I only had the issue of left vs right handled reels come up when using spinning reels. The issue was easily solved by changing the handle placement. It never come up while using trolling reels as all of my partners could reel in what I was using. I guess if I had to I could have set them up with spinning reels for trolling as I always carried spinning reels in my boat and could have easily adapted them for trolling.

A really good team is a team in which they each share in the reeling and netting.

Reply was for his remark, it had that "deal with it" attitude, unlike the others who answered the question better.

I'm no expert but I'd think it could get weird if things get a bit crazy and you've got reels on different sides. But this could be discussed the day before during preperations.

As far as just being net boys, I don't think that is case from what I experienced.

In fact my co-anglers, Michael Bosch, JJ Scully, and Chris Augustyn were making decisions on who would run the rods and net since I was not confident doing either one. In fact, I recommended on day 3 that Chris do both but he didn't think that would be a good idea.

Hey Eric, you got to fish with Auggie? He's a fishing nut!

I'm a lefty, as stated, spinning reels are just a few seconds to deal with. Even being left handed, I reel baitcasters and linecounters the same "base" design as the others. I would think it would be good to go over this in the morning before the boats are realeased so things can be setup in advance instead of using limited fishing time to setup equipment.

It's never been an issue for me, but I feel bad if I don't remember to switch them back at the end of the day so the Pro's rods are all setup the same way for his next day of fishing. I've seen some people that are on the edge of having a bad day in the morning, and when they grab the rod with the handle on the "wrong" side, it just pushes the day in a bad direction. It's hard to remember to switch them back.

Right! And he's from NE and a master stick at running spinnerbaits. The stars were aligned!

Sorry Allan, could not say it any better for you but that is the facts, if the handle cannot be changed to the other side you need to "just deal with it" and as far as netting or doing anything else in the boat, I prefer the co to reel (while trolling) and have fun with the fish and I net and ALL my co's will testify to this also.

And again, sorry to disturb you for answering so direct I will try to be more carefull next time for you.
