Does anyone know if it harms your HDS unit when it is powered on and your transducer is not submerged under water. I have recently purchases a sonic hub and if so, how would you do the install and use the sirius radio when not boating.
Please help, Kipawa |

If your worried about it you can go into the sonar menu and turn sonar off.

You could also unplug transducer from rear of unit.

My own personal opinion, but I think it's an old wives tale about the transducer having to be in water! My reasoning behind that thought is that there are tons of boats that come straight from the mfg with the same transducer you'd use for a transom mount that are epoxied into the bilge area of the boat, and go for years trouble free! Sure, some get a little water around them, but for the most part they are operating "dry"!
The nice thing about the HDS units though is the fact that you can indeed just go to the Sonar menu and turn it "OFF" while your boat is out of the water! I run my Sonic Hub a lot at home sitting in the driveway while I'm cleaning the boat or piddling around it and no problems thus far! HDS-10 with Structure Scan and Sonic Hub!
