I fish the Missouri River system most of the year and often we are fishing deep structure such as trees. I often hook planer boards to our leadcore setups but it seems if you snag and the board goes under they get caught in current and I have lost a few. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent this?

I fish heavy current everyday.the only boards I use are church planer boards because with the rear pin they can't come off.i usually tie a swivel six feet before lure and a leader that way if board comes loose it slides down to swivel instead of to the fish, works for me.

If you're using Off Shore boards, just use a snap swivel instead of a release on the back so they can slide back.
