Default Power Pole and Minn Kota Talon

Does anybody have any experience with these or can they compare the performance between the two? Also, does anybody have one installed that also uses a ski pylon or rear tower and do they interfere?

Put a Talon on my 2050 Crestliner Raptor this year and love it. I am truly impressed at how well it hold the boat in waves up to about a foot and a half. Works well in river current also. It suprised me how often I use it. Not always for fishing either.

It is great when casting a shoreline and want to sit on a spot instantly. Much qucker than setting the incredible I-Pilot. No drift then return like the I-Pilot. In close quarters I prefer the Talon.

I use mine in conjunction with the I-Pilot also. Put the Talon down, then turn on auto pilot at very low speed, point the bow in a direction and just fish. This has been great for shooting photos and video as well. I can keep the light right where it has to be for the best images.

It is great at the boat ramp too. Pull up to dock, put down Talon. No Dock Rash and boat doesn't float away.

I do not know much about the Power Pole products. I do know this. The Talon is all electric. No hyrdo pump, no oil to leak, can be removed by unplugging on cord and loosening 4 bolts.

Been a welcome addition to my boat. If you need to get it out of the way, take it off or get the tilt bracket and lie it down.

Default Minkota Talon

I purchased one early this year and Love it. For shallow water fishing I use it all the time. It not only saves anchoring but when Crappie fishing you can move from spot to spot very quickly if need be. In conjunction with my Minkota Spot Lock the only reason I have an anchor in the boat is for the DNR Regs.

No more pulling mud and weeds up to clean off while hanging over the gunnel and possibly wrenching your shoulder again, pulling that back out, no more worries about tearing that roto cuff again, go with the Talon for shallow water fishing. Actually it is not just for shallow water fishing you can use it shallow and cast to deep water.

The only down side is the price but after I used it I forgot all about how much it cost.

I am seeing doubles on bass boats now, one is enough for me.
