Default trollmaster not precise enough

hey guys I finally tore out my old trollmaster to get a new once since the last one was SOOOO problematic...So, I had my dealer put in a new one. My new trollmaster works right but isnt anymore precise than the regular throttle at the helm. Its hard to dial in any speend between 1.6-2.1...Its all or nothing. Are there any adjustments I can make? by only going up 10 on the dial moves me from about 1.5mph to 2.1 mph... WHEN my mast unit worked it was much easier to dial in a speed and wayyyy more precise...

2 seasons ago I replaced the servo in mine because I didn't like the way the original (original was a TowerPro SG-5010) servo responded.

I went with a Hobbico HCAMO308 for these reasons..

The existing one was analog vs 308 being digital... Better torque, 2X what the existing had, and faster response (not more movement, faster response to the controller).

Existing had sleeve bearings, and the 308 is ball bearing... More precise movement, less wear.
Metal gears in 308, vs nylon gears in existing, much stronger and take vibration better.

They are 4 times the price of the 5010 ($10.00 vs $40.00), but I couldn't believe the difference in the control I now have over the Pro-Kicker engine speed. It never varies like it did with the 5010. I was constantly fooling with it before. Now I only have to change it because of wind or current.

Servo takes about 5 or 10 minutes to change, and you can pick one up at any hobby shop that sells radio control airplane, or radio control car & truck parts...

mine is the same way. fortunately, it usually sets me at my desired trolling speed, but it's far from precise imo. i have to go up or down by 4 or 5 before the motor's rpms change. i may try the servo that bgunn suggested.

Question

does the hobbico servo plug into the trollmaster wiring harness with no changes?

they may have the cable to tight you have well over 300 for the setting loosen the cable just a little to get out of the dead spot and it should work for you the numbers are arbitruary so what if you start out at 75 and go from there

The numbers dont really matter.. The problem is that by increasing just 5 or 6 increases my speed by almost .5 mph....Its jsut as touchy as the darn remote throttle from merc....With my old unit i had to increase it by a heck of alot more to gain .5 mph.....so basically the trollmaster serves no real purpose for me as its just as tounchy as my regualr helm throttle..In some waves its hard to get a speed dialed in on the TM

I understand thats why if you get it off that dead spot it may work fine just give the cable a little slack and the reostat will be at a different position and may be more sensitive
