I upgraded my servo to a digital servo of the same size and torque. The digital servo is much more responsive and holds the torque. This is the reason that they are preferred in RC aircraft. I put a Hi-tec in from the local HobbyTown store and it is far more precise and does not have the dead spots. Cost me 46.00 to upgrade, but now I can hold speed. No difference in the harness or power feed requirements. Just processes the signal faster to ensure quick response to the inputs and sustainment of the power.

I loosened up the cable as much as possible since they have it crimped in place. It didnt really do much and is still touchy as all heck. Instead of having it set at 55 to troll at 1.8 mph I am not at 66 to go the same speed. It is still wayyyyy to touchy for me...Might need to upgrade servos or something.

the pro model has less adjustment than the pro 2. maybe that model would suit you better. that, or a control king instead of trollmaster.

BGunn, do you have the TM 2 or the original? I have the original and pulled the trigger on the servo you suggested but should have asked the above question first. I'm hoping that the servo will help...I have to go past #5 of 10 on the dial to get the throttle to respond and then back down from there. With the servo being digital I'm hoping that there won't be any communication issue with the controler seeing as that's annalog...or am I off on that assessment?

It's not a problem (although, I do have a TM-2) a digital servo will work from an analog controller. The difference is all inside the servo, and what it does with the signal.
A analog servo signals it's motor with a 50 times a second signal, and a digital signals it's motor with a 300 times a second signal. The result is a servo that has a much smaller deadband, faster response, quicker and smoother acceleration, and better holding power.

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to hear! So if you had to put your finger on it, would it be just one thing or two or a combination: lower torque and/or slower response that has most of us frowning when the TM isn't performing the way we'd like? Seems like this is a common issue and I'm glad there's a quick, economical fix the to the issue. Thanks again.

I'm not convinced the fault is JUST the servo. I'm thinking it's also the speed rheostat/pot as well. Even with a MUCH upgraded servo my TM Pro 2 is still "acting up". Give the servo a bad signal, and it's going to run badly. No matter how many times per second they talk. Garbage in, garbage out.
With a much cleaner speed pot, coupled with a much better servo, I'll bet the problems will be way less if not eliminated.

I put in the upgraded servo....lost the snap ring washer that links the servo to the throttle arm @##(*&* these sausage fingers! With that solved and shoring up the slop in the link to the throttle arm, I did notice some improvement in the responsiveness of the servo/rehostat/throttle linkage going from 1 to 3. There was SOME improvement in shoring up the throttle link prior to install but not enough that would have kept me from intstalling the upgrade. Chalk up another sucess for sharing info on this site.
