Default D vs E load ratings

One of my GE Marathons is starting to seperate and has gotten out of round, so before I go out again I need to get the tires replaced.

I'm looking at the Maxxis trailer tires, and see they have load D and E 225/75 tires for my 15x7 rims on my 2005 Ranger 1850.

The boat and trailer is pretty heavy and pretty close to the 4500 lb weight capacity, so I want to be sure I have beefy enough tires.

My first blush is to go with the E to get the increased capacity, and the ability to inflate to ~80 PSI. Will the stock Ranger rims hold the 80 psi, and will the ride be rougher on my boat with the stiffer tires?

Any reason I should go with D?

On my 07 Ranger 1860, I've been running "E" load rated tires on the original wheels for awhile now at 80 psi.

I sent an email to Ranger about it and they told me the wheels were only tested at 65 psi, so I ended up upgrading the tires and the wheels to meet load E spec.

Probably wouldnt have done it, but my wheels were in pretty bad shape and were getting pretty corroded. I'll retire them to service on a utility trailer my cousin has.
