Default Help recarpeting bunks

I tried my staple gun to see if it would push a staple through the carpet and in to the 2x6. Not going to happen with this model. Was going to buy some stainless staples and some carpet and redo my bunks.

What have you guys used to force these staples flush. My Arrow T50 will not handle the job.

Just redid mine. I used my old trusty pneumatic stapler and went to Menards and bought 2"x4"x10' treated lumber and bought two 1'x6' strips of the cheap 39 cent a square foot indoor/outdoor carpet. Whole redo cost like 10 bucks as long as you have a nice pneumatic stapler.

Default recarpet

good luck with the cheap carpet may work but have so many times it only lasts a short time get the heaviest that you can so that it has some support sheck with the trailer manufactors they will tell you what to use

when I needed new carpet I called the mfg of my trailer (Eagle) they sold me the exact stuff that was on there, it was about $30

as far as the staples, I would start them with the gun then use a hammer on them to finish the job

Perchjerker As far as those staples were sticking out I would be afraid that they would just bend over when you try to hammer them in.

Arrow electric stapler maybe $40 pushed the stainless staples I used in flush, make sure your not using an extension cord or if you are it has to be at least #12 wire. If your still having problems then use a shorter staple, I found some stainless ones from Menards that worked great in my arrow t50. Also 12 years ago I bought some cheap indoor/outdoor carpet for bunks on my old boat and it has held up great no need to waste money on "marine" carpet.

Exactly, the triple times price tag on the marine grade carpet is crazy and is slightly unjustifiable by lifespan. Whereas if you want your trailer to look like it came off the show room, then yeah go with the Marine carpet.

I see

I have my grandpa's old Craftsman hand stapler

It takes Hercules to squeeze the handle but boy does it drive the staples!

As far as the bunk carpet, mine was just not the same as the cheap stuff.

It has a way thicker pile and its softer too

kind of hard to explain but I think the extra money was well worth it

Since my gelcoat basically lives on it I dont mind paying a little extra.

Maybe if I have a tuna can boat I would not bother with it
