I have a RWS 34 thats about 15-20 years old and still shoots great. When you live in town these rifles are as fun as a toy(dangerous, but a toy to us)as you can have for plinking blackbirds and shooting targets. I've been seeing and looking at the new Gamo Bone Collector model that is supposed to be half as loud and have a better and new air system. I'm excited about the noise because mine makes a distinct and loud clunk when the spring releases and my wife hates it when I shoot live critters. My questions are if anyone has actually heard one of these supposedly quiet ones( they have a website comparison but its not good sound) and whether they are noticably quieter, and number two-has anyone had good or bad luck with the Gamo brand? I definatly don't need a new one, but I do want a new one.

I have had one of the Gamo Whisper air guns and I was less than impressed. I too was excited about the thought of a quiet gun. I would stick with what is working for you. Right now I am looking for another that works for pests in the backyard.

A few years ago, I saw an ad in a Cabela's sale flyer for a Gamo whisper quiet pellet gun. I stopped by the Cabelas here in Michigan to check them out. I found none in stock and the reason was, they are illegal to own in this state due to the silencing device on the muzzle. I can see pistols and hi-power rifles, but yep...even pellet guns fall in this category. Just a FYI. Don't know about regs in other states.

No need to change what works.
Excellent advice I found on an air gun forum in answer to a pest control question was "Under 30 yards, a Beeman R7; over 30 yards, a Beeman R1". I have an R7, and like your RWS 34, it's amazingly accurate. If power is desired, Pyramid Air sells a Chinese-made air rifle that's 50 caliber. |

Love my RWS 34 except for the scope. Keeps going out of wack and it's made for air rifles.

The vibration from springer air rifles is exceptionally hard on scopes. Air gun scopes are inexpensive to replace.

I looked at quite a few different sites and it doesn't appear these Gamo's are getting many positive comments. I did notice that rifle looks to me like it came out a year ago at a $350+ pricepoint and now Fleet has them for $219. I can't see where there are 2 Bone Collector models anywhere so it must be a huge price reduction because of poor sales?.?. That's a lot for an air rifle. Thanks Fraid Knot, you're post was my main fear and got me digging a little harder for information.

I've found this to be more quite than any adult air rifle. S&W M41 with a Bully Barrel and a YHM suppressor. With sub-sonics all you hear is a click and a thud!
