You are correct, it does not have to be cocked and locked. I guess in my mind I just don't see the reasoning behind not carrying it that way but like you say to each their own. I looked long and hard at the Sig P238 as they are a really neet gun but decided to go with a Seacamp .32 for my really small carry gun. Excellent quality but no sights so it's not the most fun at the range but for it's intended purposes it's a hard one to beat.
