We built a 650 sq ft room addition onto our home 2 1/2 yrs ago and put in the Mitsubishi mini split, single zone heat pump for that room! Don't know anything about the Fujitsu brand, but we are 110% happy with the Mitsubishi system we put in! It's super quiet, very efficient and today at 107 degrees outside, the game room is as comfy as the rest of the house! Ours has the wireless handheld remote set on Auto, and whatever temp we preset, it keeps the entire room spot on at that temp! Really can't tell you what the monthly operating cost is, but I know it isn't all that much, and way way less than if we'd tried to heat and cool the room any other way!

Hawker, The guy that sold and installed the system to me said it should be a fraction of the cost of central air. Do you think that was a sales pitch or fact ?

In our case "fact"! We couldn't be happier with our system, how quietly and efficiently it operates, and how well it heats and cools the room!

I did a lot of research before we started construction and the Mitsubishi system just seemed the "right" way to go! We bought the whole system on-line and a HVAC buddy of mine came over to help me install and set it up! Took a total of 1 1/2 hrs to install, pull vacuum on the system and turn it on! Ours is fed with 240 volt supply, but is pulling way less than 15 amps total (which is what it's fused at per mfg) which is considerably less draw than anything else we found! I'm sure the "Fujitsu" is likely very similar to the Mitsubishi, and if so you should be very happy with it!

Seer ratings on some models are higher than most standard AC units, but that would be it.

Fraction of the cost is a bit misleading, what fraction...99/100th of the compared cost or 20/100ths?

But ya, they are just a reversing AC unit with a bit better seer rating so he could be right, a bit misleading maybe though.

I have had several of these put in and there are many good manufacturers, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, LG, look for the best SEER Rating for the dollar.

Fish for Fun, do you have any idea on your operating cost for your units? The one I bought has a SEER rating of 21.5--It draws 1.2 kilowatts per hour. Does anybody know if that 1.2 is at max load ? I would assume so and I'd guess my average draw would be something like half of max. Does that sould like proper reasoning

I really don't know what the cost is off hand, but I will see if I can find out. Several are for cooling only and cool computer rooms at a constant 68 degrees and have to work with a lot of equipment in the rooms.

One setup has one compressor and dual coil/fan units and does both cooling and heating in an old home that has no heat or air to the upper floor. I can see if he has an idea on what his cost is? I know he has it setup with the electric company to run on cheaper electric after a certain time during off peak hours.
