Hello WC, just signed up and not a clue what I am doing. I am going on my first walleye trip to Glendo ever. Ad this to the fact I have never fished for walleye before, I could use a little help. I have scoured the internet for info on walleye fishing and have gleaned a few ideas. I have heard good things about Glendo, but have no idea where to start. If any of you folks could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

as of right now the lake is dropping really fast, they are refilling Geurnesy Res from the silt run.
If this is your first trip there ever and no one else has been there, be sure to look at the current elevation of the res and subtract that from the full elevation so when you view your map you will have a idea of whats out of water right now. http://www.usbr.gov/gp-bin/arcweb_gler.pl I have been hearing cranks and twister tails have been working, but myself I have not been able to get into them real good this year. |

Then why not take out a guide???? They will help you out a lot. Ask lots of questions.
Good luck, Jawjerker |

A total bust, the lake was nasty with lots of weed sediment floating around. Not one bite, tried a large variety of baits. Will be some time before I make that trip again. Thanks for those 2 replys that I did recieve. In response to the Guide suggestion, it was not in the budget, and I would have no idea where to find one anyway. But will keep the idea in mind if I ever do decide to try Glendo again.

howdy! to make a long story short; in kansas , walleye season is probably late march/april. to catch an abundance of walleye after that, go to ontario or manitoba. you can also fish Northern Minnesota for walleyes. Minnesota has 10 thousand lakes. If you want to catch more than 2 or 3 20 plus inch fish, avoid 9990 of the lakes. best wishes.

I was there today, boated 7. It was REAL slow. Talked to Fish and game and he was surprised by what I said because most boats had none.

Welcome to WC, If the lake you picked is having a tough bite for the walleye's,and this is your first time. you may want to fish a differant lake with walleye's coming in great numbers. then you will learn how to fish for them. I have taken many bass fisherman north to Quebec on a very good walleye producing lake and it takes them a few days to adapt to that way of fishing. If you are after walleye you must target that type of fish.Anyway thats why they call in fishing and not catching. good luck wherever you go
