It has been a while since I have been on the board. Back in the 90's I was a frequent visitor and commenter on the boards. Yep, way back when. I have been out of fishing for about 12 years now. Sold my Lund ProV 1890 (150 Yamaha HPDI) way back when.
I am now ready to enter the fishing world again and will be purchasing a Ranger fisherman. I will be fishing Lake Geneva (Wisconsin) as the smallest lake I will likely be and will spend much time on Lake of the Woods chasing Walleye, Small Mouth, and Musky. I enjoy fishing out of all three areas of a boat mainly using the front troller with 60" shaft until waves get to large, then back to the transom go my electronics and I use my 9.9 high thrust kicker to control drift, back troll, or front troll as the case may be. Use wavewackers on all boats I have ever owned for this purpose. My question is this. Based on what I have written above, which of the two Rangers would be preferred. I do plan on fishing some walleye tournaments as well. Bigger lakes in Minesota, Michigan, maybe lake erie, etc.. With all that in mind would the 621 fit my needs better or the 620? Additionally, I am leaning toward the 621 but want to make sure it will fit in the garage. Here is the dimensions of my garage and would like anyone who owns a 621 to chime in to see if it will fit as the catalog says 25' approximate on trailer with swing toung open. Looking to bounce some of this off of knowledgeable people regarding these two rigs. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...type=3&theater Also, what do you actually lose with the 620, other than Max Horsepower, versus the 621? Are they both as dependable, durable, and effective in rough water based on my explanations above. I use all techniques available from jigging, rigging, bouncing, trolling, etc. |

Bigger is better .... At least in this case , all the water you mentioned is pretty big . |

I own a 620 and was told that the extra foot is night and day difference in cutting big waves. This was from my ranger dealer

Sounds good so far. What about it fiting into the space in the garage pic link I left. I am not concerned about getting behind it, or on the far side of it, just don't want to have problems getting it in and out of the garage, and it fitting without the prop to close to the wall. Plus, I want to get it in there with a transom saver attached and do not know how much the engine tileted will add to that approx. 25' lenght listed in the catalog.
Anyone??? |

All I can say bud is take a tape measure to one. I think 27 ft would work but with the motor still kicked up idk.

(With all that in mind would the 621 fit my needs better or the 620?) If you have the money to burn then buy the 621 and you are going to need a 26 foot garage to put it in. What is the price difference for the one foot and the ride difference is not night and day with the 620 maybe riding better. So what are your needs? |

My garage is as follows:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=3&theater My concern is that I want to store it with the enging tilted still on the transom saver. As the pic shows, I have 27' 6" from garage door to back wall, and 130 inches in width. Just want to make sure I will be able to manuver it in and store it with engine on transom saver. Wondering what size garages people who own one have. Just starting my research on this. Plus, can't yet decide on Mercury 300 Verardo, Yamaha 300 off-shore, and Evinrude E-tech 300.
