'07 ranger 1850 reata w/ single ax. -tire issue

Just put on 2 new tires......probably only 2,000 miles. Lefthnd side tire is cupped really bad. R/h side tire looks fine. They are balanced & pressured correctly. Could an axle move a little or did I somehow bend something?

Have you hit any potholes or bounced off a curb ? If so you could have a bent spindle. I did last year ended up putting a new axle under the boat.

Take your trailer to a good alignment shop and have the trailer checked.

If you find that you have a bent axle, you need to decide whether to have the alignment shop straighten the axle or for you to put on a new heavier rated axle.

Certainly the body shop can easily straighten a bent axle - that is likely your problem. But if you bent the axle once, I would suspect that it will likely bend again.

You may be better off to install a new axle with a heavier load rating to avoid such future axle bends.

I may be wrong, but the term cupped to me means multiple cup marks in the tire, not an even wear pattern such as all the inside or outside of the tire. I always thought cupping was the result of improper balance or possibly a bent wheel.

Had a Reata 1850 but got rid of it last year and upgraded to a 209 Yarcraft on tandems. I noticed on the Reata that the boat did a lot of bouncing and the axle rating was about max for the weight of the boat. Chances are the spindle is bent. Go with a heavier rated axle and that will correct alot of the bouncing and tires going bad.
