55lb will work just fine on that boat.

If you want to run longer u could move up to a 24v system and be great all day long.

I have a 2007 Lund Explorer tiller model. I called MinnKota when I bought it for advice on what size Terrova. I was told 55lb was fine. I sure wish I would have put an 80lb Terrova. Just my opinion. I did go to two 12 volt batteries connected in parrallel to increase my run time. I also did have to change the #10 conductors out in the bow mount circuit to #6. When running on power 10 for any length of time, the circuit breaker would open.

As big as you can afford.
Tracker rigged a 40lb motor on a Pro Guide I bought years ago.....Immediately removed it for a 60" shaft 24V 65LB PowerDrive.

I still fished days that I wished I had a bigger motor.

I still haven't used the 65lb Motorguide on this boat, but I hope it's enough. I hope the lower draft, and lack of console (tiller boat) will allow me to get by with 'only' 65lbs of thrust)

Default Just say no to 12 volts!

I had a 17' Alumacraft and my buddy has a 17' Crestliner. I had a 24 volt, 65 lb. Minnkota Powerdrive and he has a 12 volt, 55 pound Minnkota. I have been on his boat at least 5 times when we've run out of juice when the wind came up. I fished for 6 years in my boat and never ran out once.

New Alumacraft is closer to 18' and I went with the Terrova 80 lb. I-pilot. I think I'm in love.

I'm running a 16 footer with an 88" beam and a 55# Powerdrive. I have 2 batteries and have never run out of power. On windy days when I wanted more thrust, I just cranked up the big motor and steered with the bowmount.

I did the something similar w/the 65lb motor, and the kicker motor. In hind sight setting up a controlled drift using socks would have probably worked better.

Default Go Big

I wish I would have gone bigger than necessary when changing to a Terrova. I went with the 24 volt 80lb thrust because it was the easier switch on my 621. Should have gone 36/101. Hate the thought in the back of my mind that I may have to change things up just so the bow doesn't die.

That is how I run mine on Lake Erie, Start the auto Pilot 65# Minkota, the 9.9 and time them together. Troll all day on Lake Erie. it is nice you don't have keep adjusting the kicker, just set speed and direction and fish.

Default mine is lot bigger 16 and have 55

I know I would love 70 even more but I troll at level 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 pulling bottom rigs. 55 is worth extra coinage over 45. I do run out juice get 4 hours out battery.
