electric brakes and launching

I'm used to unplugging my trailer when launching boat. I have LED lights but its habit for me. I now have a trailer with electric brakes. Can I still unplug the lights before I put the boat in the water or will this cause trouble with the brakes. I'm a newbie to this type of trailer so learning alot.

If you have the wide 5 connector that means you have the electric solenoid that blocks the surge brake pressure. If that is the case you should have an insert block that prevents the physical movement of the surge mechanism. You would have to put that in if you want to continue unplugging. I have run LED trailers for quite a few years now and have only had to fix one side marker light. I never unplug.

I do have the 5 wide connector. I'll look into the plug.

Just leave it plugged in, it won't be a problem. I never unplug mine, going on 8 yrs. The older bulbs got hot and could break when they get wet. The LED lights don't get hot.

Unplug them each time and your magnets will last indefinitely.

Just leave it plugged in. I have never unplugged the lights and have never had a problem, rocks when driving and people hitting my trailer have been the only thing to take out any of my lights.

Do you have electric brakes, or are you talking about the electric lockout solenoid for disc brakes? I'm sure there might be boat trailers with electric brakes, but I've never seen one. Also if your trailer had electric brakes, it would probably be a 7 pin connector.

I think I'll just leave them plugged in. Old habits die hard though.
