Default angry wife

Just bought a 20 yr old boat and have spent more money on it then the wife would have liked. Now i have a chance to take the boat to Mille Lacs for my first fishing trip but wife dissapproves. She said it is my decision......(yeah right) do i go and fish and piss her off or skip and hopefully go on a trip in the fall. I can go to red door resort for 3days for only about $50 the wife doesn't get how cheap that is.

You bought a boat and your wife won't let you use it?!?!? You bought a boat in hopes you might get a chance to go fishing sometime in the fall?!?

I'm sure it is 'your decision' as long as that deision is to stay home. Sell the boat. I feel for you man...good luck with that!!

Lund 1993,

Congrats on your boat purchase, though I'd hold off on a quick trip to Mille Lacs so soon - as you said she thinks you spent too much $$ for this boat, and then in her eyes you're now going off and spending more $$ on a fishing trip.

If your wife is upset at your purchase, get some credits in around the house (helping out, etc) before you head out this fall for a trip. Then there's always the issue of wanting to "upgrade" your rig, which is even more $$.

In just a few weeks I'll celebrate my 34th wedding anniversary....I've got a great wife, and learned a few things over the last 34+ years.....no matter how great the Lund runs and how great the trip, you've got to come home and live with your spouse....brings to mind that old and very true quote "If Mama ain't happy, nobody is happy !".

Now some guys will tell you to go....if you go, maybe it's longer than 3 days (ha) !

Be wise....live long....stay close to home

Rich B

Do you have a tent small enough to fit in your boat when you get home?

I live by the motto it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Maybe that is why i am on my second wife.

Pretty sure you'll be looking for your third one soon enough. Maybe next time you'll find one that likes to fish too.

This is not a completely unusual situation. At some point in your life you will have to decide what is important to you. In my opinion, a person should be able to enjoy a reasonable hobby and still be able to live with the spouse, without having to make a choice of only one or the other. A reasonable spouse should feel the same way. Unfortunately, like the Alan Jackson song "But Here in the Real World", sadly it many times comes down to one or the other.

Best of luck to you.
