Default Drain plug seized?

Good day good day everyone,
My drain plug appears to be seized. No matter how much I unscrew it, I can't seem to pull it out. Any ideas?

Thx
Matt

First off, are you talking about a threaded drain plug that screws into the hull, or a rubber drain plug that expands into the smooth bore hole in the the hull when you twist the thumb screw in? The rubber type usually has a threaded washer on the inside. If you have access, try and grab that washer with pliers or visegrips while someone unscrews it from the outside.

Hook a rope to it and tie off to the motor...tilt the motor up letting the tilt pull the plug out. Put some grease on it for next time.

And hope the insert for the plug doesn't come out of the hull with the plug. You want to lubricate the threaded screw and the plate it goes into. After a few years corrosion tends to made them bind and cause them to spin together.

A large punch will pop it out easily, don't know why but both boats I've purchased had frozen plugs in them (storing the boat with the plug in I guess)...both I popped out with a large punch in one swing of a hammer.

If necessary, take a drill and start with a small drill and drill a hole through the plug, being sure NOT to drill through the side of the drill plug hole.
Then increase the size of the drill bit until you get to 1/4 or 3/8 drill size.

When you get the hole large enough, the pressure will be gone from the sides of the hole and the plug will easily come out.

In the future, grease the plug from time to time to avoid such future problems.

If you remove the plug after every trip you wont have this problem in the future
