2007 Lund Alaskan 1800 SC with a Mec 75 HP 4-stroke. Just raised the motor to the 3rd hole (1 1/2") running @ 4800 elv. with a aluminum Solas Rubex 15 pitch. Top speed 32 mph 5350 rpm WOT. Boat has an ok hole shot & plenty of trim with no blowout in fairly tight turns & CP is now where it should be, up out of the water when running. Would like to see my rpms up in the high 5 range. I'm thinking maybe a 14 pitch prop. Any suggestions Propman? Would it be worth the cost to go SS/ 3 or 4 blade?

With 4800 elevation to contend with and 5300 rpms... you need to drop down in pitch even further.
Your engine is supposed to run at about 6000rpms. A 13 pitch will get you closer to that number and a better hole shot. The thing is....you don't really want to lug the engine down with too much pitch and at 5300 rpms that is is happening. You might post specifically to "Proppman"... He can probably help you. |
