Getting a Crestliner 1750 fish hawk. Looking at a terrova for the bow and trying to decide which way to go. This will be my 3rd 1750, my previous two have had a 55lb powerdrive and a 70lb powerdrive.
I wasn't overly impressed going to the 70lb 24v over the 12v 55. Seemed like I got more out of the 55 with 2 batteries (switch over when first one died) as opposed to the 70. I can be a little heavy on the pedal at times (searching for smallmouth beds on big water) so the 55 does keep that in check. I can get a 55 for about the same price as an 80 and the 101 is only $300 more. I have room for 3 batteries so that's not a huge issue. I'm honestly really debating the 55 or the 101 just for the fact that I would assume I'd get a day or even 2 out of the 101 before recharging or swapping out batteries with the 12v system isn't horrible either. Is a 101 going to be huge overkill on that boat? Also, the boat is already wired for a 12v so that is an easy plug and play for the most part. I don't mind running new wire and plugs for the 36v system if it's a big improvement. Thanks |

I troll cranks with a Terrova 80 and wouldn't even consider the 55. If it were me and the choice was between the 55 or 101 I'd be going with the 101. With that being said I'm pretty happy with the power consumption of the 80 Terrova.
The 101 may be overkill But if you fish multiple days with out access to electricity to re charge then you're good to go. On the other hand if you find yourself doing day trips where your rig is back home everyday you can still recharge in time for the next trip. It's better to have more and not need than to need more and not have. Good luck. |

I'd go with the 80 and two Group 31 AGM batteries, unless your running above 5 all day, you won't run out of juice. No matter which route you go I'd go with Group 31 AGM batteries.

I have the same boat, with the 80lb terrova. More then enough power, but will not last more then 4 hrs pulling cranks @ 2.0. (interstate group 27 non AGM) go w/ the group 31 AGM and you should be in good shape.

That boat weighs in at 1425#. I had a 101# on my boat that weighed in at 1800# and I was extremely happy I decided to go with the 36v system. If you can fit that third battery in there I highly recommend it.

Between a 55 and a 101, I'd go 101 every time.
But I'd go with the 80 no question. Now way I'd be in a 12v motor in anything but a older 16' and under boat (meaning not very wide/tall) |

I find an 80 is fine for my similar size and weight boat. The expense really rises from a 80 to a 101. Maybe if I was running rivers or moving water, a 101 would be better.

I have the 80 # Terrova on my Alumacraft Dominator, which is about the same size as the fishhawk. I guess I never thought the 101 would be necessary, but plugging in is never a problem for me.

55 or 101? 101 without a doubt!
