Default Holdovers

A guy I know was pricing new kicker motors the other day and when he asked the dealer what they were going to do with the 10 Merc. Pro Kickers on the rack at the end of the season if there would be any sales, the dealer said that they dont hold them over anymore they stay NEW...so even though they are stamped with the build date, they are brand new motors with full warranties starting the day they are purchased even if they are held over for two or thee years...Am I understanding this right? Seems like a wishy washy operation...Its good for the consumer that the warranty is longer, but other than that, we as consumers will never get that $500 break for being last years model...I dunno, I have mixed feelings, can someone elaborate?

Default Correct

Most manufacturers have been doing it for a few years, Envinrude is starting to do it this year. No more model years, just a manufactured date.
