Question Suffix Advanced Leadcore Line

Is the new Suffix advanced leadcore better than traditional leadcore line? It is supposed to run 7ft per color vs. 5ft per color for traditional leadcore.

I cannot answer your question. However I would like to try it. Has anyone see a place that sells it in 36#s?

I ran a couple of rods with the 18# today and was getting more than 5 ft per color. I can't say for sure that I was getting 7 ft per color but I think that might be pretty close. I was running 2.0 to 2.8.

I have two rods spooled up with the new sufix advanced leadcore and I would say I get atleast 7ft/color if not 8. In 30 fow pulling #7 flicker shads I can tick bottom with 3 colors out @ 2.0mph....this is with a 30ft mono leader

Default 832 Leadcore

The 832 leadcore comes in 2 sizes. 12 lb and 18lb. This is made with Dyneema instead of polyester so it is strong like braided line and super sensetive. Both of these lines have 70% higher breaking strength so they allow you to use smaller diameter lines with the same breaking strength. In general they do run 30% deeper depending on speed and leader length.

One caution: Because it is dyneema and not polyester, you have to be careful not to allow it to twist. I suggest using a swivvel when possile between the lead and your leader.

Good luck.

I have been using the 12# because I use a Ambassadeur 6000 reel with limited capacity. I do not get 7 feet per color at 2 mph, but I do get 6 feet. Excellent quality, but the Willis knot is much more difficult because the hole in which you insert the mono is so small. I use back to back unis instead.

I looked real hard at that Suffix advanced leadcore when I went back to scheels to get replacement leadcore when the regular suffix leadcore 18lb on both my rods broke on snags and lost 5 colors on one and 7 on the other even when using a 14lb XT leader and the leadcore had only been out on it's 2nd trip.. I just couldn't justify the 2X cost for the advanced version but if it's that much stronger I will switch to that. I was running from 6 to 7 colors back depending on what diving cranks I had on and I was going through the tree tops ticking the branches so I was going around 30 ft down at 2 to 2.5mph. It would be great to get it that deep with less line out as it takes forever to reel up 250 ft of line, especially when you have a big one on. I do use snapweights and downriggers also but leadcore seems to work the best for me out of all the 3

What would be the minimum reel size for holding 100 yards of 12lb (0.022" diameter) plus 10 yards of leader? Would a size 27 Daiwa AccuDepth be sufficient?

I have 2 Diawa 27's each spooled with 5 colors of the new sufix w/ a 30 ft mono leader and 330 feet of 20lb trilene xt backing....The spool isn't quite full but it is close.
