150 Yamaha prop question

I have some questions on my current prop set up. I have a 23m on my 150 Yamaha which sits on my 1995 lund 1890 pro v. I'm not having problems, just wanted to throw it out there to see if the prop that's on there now is correct, or should I be running a different prop. I fish a lot, and also spend time cruising with the wife and kids- tubing. To me, seems to take a bit to plane out, but I don't have any other prop experience to compare it to. Im not concerned about top speed, spend more time in the middle mph range than anything. Any advice?

What year motor?
2 Stroke or 4 Stroke?
RPM's at WOT?

Once we know the year and model of the motor we can determine what your WOT RPM range is, along with the other info and give you a better idea of what prop you should be running.

The Yamaha 150 is a 2 stroke and I believe it is also a 1995.

It looks like your WOT RPM range is 4500-5500 RPM's. At full throttle, trim up your motor until your speed starts to slow down, then lower your motor a little, this will give you your WOT RPM's. They should be in the top half, or over 5000-5500 in you case with your average load. Once we have that number, then a prop can be recommended.

Many of these rigs with that motor on them, run the 20 pitch Yamaha pro series prop with great results.

I am guessing that you are running a bit too much pitch on your engine.

Finally made it back out with the boat. 5100rpms was what I found at WOT. Again, no problems with my set up, mainly looking to run what is best for the engine.
