Default 798 hbird on terrova

I am thinking redoing the electronics at my helm and would like to mount my 798 on the bow with the terrova...Whats the best way to do this as i am sure the SI cant be plugged directly into the sonar setup on the minn kota? DO i have to go back to the hold holse clamp/transducer set up?

You can plug in the US2 transducer unto your 798, but it will only be good for traditional 2D sonar. If you want to use your compact side imaging transducer for that bow unit, you will need to mount it externally on the lower unit and run the cable up the shaft.

Your best bet would be to connect the 798 on the bow to your US2 sonar for your 2d, and assuming you are getting another Humminbird for the console then connect the bow and console together with Ethernet allowing you to use your SI transducer from the console unit in the bow, along with letting you share your waypoints and trails. If you want the SI transducer in the front of the boat, then you have to do what Jason said, install the SI transducer to you Terrova and route the cable up the shaft, a pain if you ask me, the US2 transducer on the Terrova is for 2D sonar only.

That only works if you have an ethernet-compatible 798 unit. If so, the unit will be labeled 798ci HD SI (with the HD being the important part, designating ethernet compatibility). The legacy, non-HD 798's (labeled 798c SI and 798ci SI) are not ethernet-compatible.
