I’m going to be installing a new transducer (at the end of this week) and need to run the cord up to the dash. It doesn’t look like the inside starboard panel comes off for easy access.
Looks like I going to have to try to run a snake from under the dash, along the inside of the boat, and try to exit where the other wires and steering cable exit near the transom. Tape the transducer cable to the snake and pull the whole thing back through up to the dash. Other idea’s out there? Thanks. |

That piece of sheet metal is held in place by sheet metal screws. It's difficult to remove completely because of the shifter handle, but it does not need to be completely removed just to run a cable up there and secure it to the rest. I'd just get it loose in the middle section to help run a cable snake up there. Not worth the trouble to remove it completely. The heads of the screws may be buried in the carpeting, but they are there. You may need to remove the rounded corner piece in the back corner, depending on how much access you need. That is sheet metal screws on top and bottom too. I've been in that area many times, it's just screws. Be careful to choose the right screw driver and push hard; the heads are quite soft and easy to strip.

Thanks Mr. Stripe - that's what I was hoping to hear. I'll look closer and find those screws. Should be a lot easier if I can get access to the area.
Purchased an Airmar P66. Hopefully this new transducer will solve the blinking 1.2 foot reading I get quite often. |

Got the transducer wire up the side of the boat easily by finding and removing the screws (duh) - thanks again Stripehunter.
Got out fishing this morning and I can say the Airmar P66 transducer is a huge improvement over the Lowrance transducer I had. Reads bottom at all speeds up to WOT (31 - 33 mph) for me. Seems to pick up more fish and gives a clearer more defined hook pattern to the fish. I'm sure with a bit more adjustments it will be even better! |
