1) I don't know if I like the team with co format. 3 people in a boat almost requires a 20' boat.
2) payout 5 to 10K for 1st but have payouts go down to 20-25th place depending on # of boats.
3) Top 5 to tour championship would be cool.
4) 2 divions would be good.
5)40 people to the championship total (80 if there are 2 divions), this would require people to fish the whole circuit.
6) 3 tournaments per 2 days would be nice, if we are going to travel would like to have more than 1 day to fish.
7) entry fees? $350.00 per as boater

If this is the type of tournament you're looking for, you should just fish the MWC.

Let's be realistic about the League. The beauty of the League was that it was inexpensive, only one day, and it afforded guys (and gals) the opportunity to fish in tournaments that didn't require a ton of pre-fish time or money. The payouts were what they were, no complaints. However, it made it all about the competition! You got to compete against some terrific fishermen and make some great, new aquaintances. It gave us a taste of what tounament fishing is like, and let us know if it was an avenue that we wanted to persue further, or not.

Just my $.02.

I agree with you Mike! Why fix something that was not broke? The league sustained itself fine the way it was, even during the times when we were hit hardest with the down turn of the economy. I would bring it back the way it was, the competition was great, the payouts were fine and best of all we had a good time doing it. I fished the League since the days of the RCL League and have enjoyed every single tournament. I say get Mark Dorn involved, and he will continue what he and Sonny started, a grass roots entry level tournament for the weekend warriors!

They will not get enough guys at either level to play, thus they will not make enough money. I dont see a league sustaining life.
I think that it would stand a MUCH better chance at $150 entry fee than $300 or more. Like John said, if it wasn't broke, why fix it? He said it best; a grass roots entry level tournament for the weekend warrior.

If you are looking for something more than that, it's available in the MWC.

I'd like to see the league brought back just like it was, but I do think the entry fees need to be closer to $300 for boaters however.

With the increased costs of gas, lodging, bait, etc, the average angler will have between $250-$400 in additional expenses sunk into each tournament and I question whether enough purse money would be available at $150/angler to allow enough anglers a chance at recouping their expenses.

$300 for a boater and $150 for a co-angler worked just fine. I would maybe change the payouts to paying up to 10th place instead of 20th place to get the payouts higher for 1st-3rd. That would be my only changes to what they used to have in place. I know people will argue with this, but a top ten payout is really sufficient in my eyes.

I also agree that the entry should be $300 maximum to increase boat numbers. I would rather have a pro/am format. Payout should be a high percentage for first and then payout down the field through 15th or 20th. The biggest draw for me would be if the top few anglers got an entry into the FLW Tour Championship.

What difference does it make? You can either afford it or you cant! You either want to fish it or you dont! A good fisherman buys the best of bait regardless of tourney or no tourney, if you want to fish out of a boat you need to buy gas...I love fishing tounaments, I say keeping under $200 for a boater is max...
