Honest to god, is there anything that is even remotely reasonably priced in that place as far as fishing items go? Even their sale and so-called clearance prices on everything are expensive. I honestly do not buy anything from that place no matter how much of a variety they have. I can at least find good worth while sale/clearance deals at Cabela's and Gander Mountain. I can cruise the BP website every week and find nothing that is priced decently and that is even before tax and shipping fees. Their idea of a sale on lures is $0.25 off their already high price.
Does anyone else here feel the same way? Does anyone else here purchase from them frequently? I have never found anything there that I couldn't find for less else ware. |

That's a good price but I paid $74 each for my four 17's from the Sportsman's Guide on ebay .....no tax nor shipping costs either. That would have added another $37+ for them from BP plus the $5 each for $42.

I agree you did well. Nice to find those deals on ebay. Seems like almost everything is overpriced these days.

I can honestly say that the only higher prices than BP is Cabela's. I saved Cabela's points with my Cabela's card for 12 years and had almost $12,000 in points. I bought a new Lund and was ready to equip it with accessories. I am lucky enough to live within 30 minutes of a BP and a Cabela's and I will tell you that BP is significantly cheaper on most items than Cabela's. I realize the points I collected were "free" from the credit card purchases as I pay my monthly statement as soon as received. I also like a deal and there are NO deals at Cabela's. Yes, I can occasionally get a deal on line from Cabela's but not at their retail outlets. Just my opinion...

I am a cabelas guy, bar none best sale deals out there. when scheels runs a sale they are not to bad, but that is only like twice a year. Cabelas web page is your best friend. I cant remember the last time i paid "full price" at cabelas. there have been many times I have walked out of the store and when i got home added up the original prices compared to what i paid and there have many times when I was paying 40 or less cents on the dollar.

This must be one of those never ending debates. It's all personal opinion I guess.
I love Bass Pro and I can NOT stand Cabelas. Overpriced, and their store has a horrible fishing section. |

Junior,
The wonderful thing about the free market is that if you don't like a price at one store, you can go somewhere else. Really no point in either writing or even talking about it. Do your shopping at your leisure and then make your choices, pay your money and enjoy your product, from whomever you might decide to buy something. Possibly the best thing to do, is to keep the money in your bank and just go fishing. After all, do you really need that other thing, that other lure, that other hook? Or, do you really have enough "things" to do the job. -------------- Open your eyes and your heart and do some serious thinking about what you have. Once you have a single rod, reel and hook - what else do you really HAVE to have, to have a great day on the water catching fish? I am sure that you do not need 500 crank baits in your box. I am sure that you don't need 20 rods and 30 reels in your box. I am sure that you don't need a thousand jigs. So, as I posted earlier, it is quite likely that the very best place to spend your fishing and sporting goods dollars - is NoWhere. i.e. just leave the money in the bank, in your pocket, and just enjoy the hobby. Be safe REW |

The funny part here is I have never been to Cabelas and we have one here in Michigan. The price points are purely internet based. I would tend to say that fishing clothing has been my primary focus and Cabela's sales and their bargain cave have done me well. Going to Bass Pros site ( I have one ten miles from my house) their clearance section contains nothing that has the deep discounts that Cabelas has. Again, this is just based on my own findings and observations.
