Default 2012 Lund 1850 Tyee

We are dealing on a 2012 Lund Thee 1850 with a 115 Mercury 4-stroke and a Minn-Kota pd70. Is the boat powered correctly, any opinions appreciated.

Default Go bigger

depends upon what you are looking to do with your boat and what you are expecting to get out of it. a 115 will be ok if you are just going to fish and cruise around. If you are planning to do water sports and/or looking for speed, a 115 is too small.

I had a 1850 Crestliner Sportfish (similar to the Tyee) for 9 years with a yamaha F115. Good on fuel, good for fishing and fine for pulling tubes and young kids skiing. Adults and older kids not so much.

Bottom line is that it left me wanting more - so I upgraded boat/motor. Go with a 150 miniumum and you will be much happier.

From what I have read the merc 4 stroke is a good motor, but a 115 is more suited for a 16 to 17ft boat. You'll want at least a 150 on an 18ft Tyee. That's a heavy and deep boat.

I did as well!! In short I wouldn't do it, and a 70 lb isn't big enough. The dealer is trying to get you to buy a boat by under sizing everything to make the price look good!!

I have an 05 1850 Tyee Magnum with a 140 Johnson on it. I max out at about 40mph. Hpoe this helps. I think a 115 would be way underpowered.

i have the 1850 sportfish with a 150 opti on her, its a good fit, i see about 46mph with my wife and i in the boat w/ gear. I WOULD like to have a 175HP on the back but i dont think it makes sense to spend 17,000$ on just a motor on a 9 year old boat. I would say throw a 175HP on that tyee, youll regret every second you dont i promise you that much! a 115HP in my opinion is way way to small for an 1850 walleye boat.

Seems small to me. I have a 115 Opti on a Dominator 175, and I'm not breaking any speed records, but for the fishing I do I am plenty satisfied. You're talking about quite a bit more boat with the Tyee, and I think you'd be wishing you had more motor.

I have a 1800 Fisherman with a 115 merc and I wish it had a 150 and my fisherman is a touch smaller than the Tyee you are lookin at...if it were me I would go with the 150 or a 175.......and go with the 80pd trolling motor
