Default Mercury touch up paint

Does Mercury Marine sell touch up paint (phantom black) in a small bottle with a brush like auto dealers do?

For that, I'd buy the spray paint, which is also offerred. Just prep the surface and use a good primer.

What my dealer told me, was to buy the spray paint can, and for touch up, just spray a good dab into the can cover, and use a paintbrush/q-tip/etc. to hit any small scratches, etc.

I use it to cover up the "sand blast" on the skeg, virtually no prep. It wears off, then can put it back on to look purty

want to try and totally refishish the lower unit- from the hood down. I tried the spray paint thing and it worked half a$$. I am going to purchase this kit http://www.ebay.com/itm/250912883977...S:1123&vxp=mtr
and follow the instructions using a base primer (zinc chromate) and spraying her black again. I just did not like the finsih of the spray can.

now- what kind of a pre prep should be used to remove the the old finish? 320gr sand paper and just scuff? or what??

Thanks in advance-

Thumbs up Merc Paint

Here are the Merc part numbers for the spray paint to do a good job. 802878-52 primer. 802878-1 paint. 802878-53 clear coat. 802878-54 leveler. Now you just have to get a Merc dealer that knows something to order it for you. Wiredog
