Glad to see they shut er down! Dont need to let a couple lucky fish give the whole tournament to the local legend, great guy Brian Ney. Aim should have stated if theres a blow day then you will be resticted to the river then the anglers would of pre fished and they would fished the river today.

What I don't understand is why this tournament isn't a full field of anglers? This is one of the greatest fisheries they have this year. Why don't people want to fish aim? I fished the can am and loved it personally I believe that all tournaments should be catch photo & release, just to save the fisheries. If I could of been at this even't you betcha I would have.
{my bros fishing this one from Canada, he reminds me of a Tom Keenan - Go Dean Go!}

Thumbs up AIM Made The Right Call

Aim's call in the interest of contestant saftey is being bashed?
Ever fish LOW in a NW blow?
The river is a poor option this time of the year.
Aim's call was spot on IMHO.

Default Aim

I agree on calling day one. LOTW can get real nasty with a big blow. Also need to remember that this is not a team derby. Many of the co-Anglers would have a hard time in that wind and waves. I have fished LOTW for 30 years and it is no place to be in a 20ft boat with the wind blows that hard. They had a tournament out of Warrord a few years ago and let the teams out in a big wind and two 20 ft boats went down and the guys had to be rescured. I talked to one of the teams after they where fised out of the lake and it was scary just lisen to them on what happend. Not to mention he had his 620 blow up on the rocks and get destroyed. This is no lake to mess with win the wind blows that hard.

The reason they did not limit it to the river is the chips are all differnt on where the border line is. If you get caught by the Canadians for fishing on their side without a license and a remote border crossing permit. They will take your boat and give you a big fine.

I think AIM is a great format but they need to go to a Pro-Pro-Co format. As it is just to much money to fish these derbies by yourself for the average guy. I know I would have fished this derby with a friend if it was Pro-Pro co. As you can spit expenses and fish with somone you know. Also it would allow for an additional line and more fish to be CRR.

Also I think the weights will be down today after the big cold front.

Again, nobody is questioning the cancellation of day one, just questioning why they didn't just make the lake off limits for the day and make it a river only day.

He said it in his post John. The river was the back-up but I guess what they didn't anticipate was the borders were marked different on each chip making it difficult to define while out on the water for the guys/girl. With a good forecast for day two and day three it just made sense when you factored in the issue of the borders to cancel day one completely.

I can completely understand AIMs decision to cancel the 1st day.

I'm a bit curious as to how in the world different lake chip manufacturer's can have an international boundary line shown differently on their chips? Thats a pretty critical piece of information to have shown correctly, particularly on the Rainy River.

I dont believe that the chips are different or that 1/2 the guys actually cared. When the events are on erie and the guys are fishing near the line, is there bouys saying keep out? I think that they wanted a day off.

Default GPS coverage?

Just asking, thats why the question mark.......thats all. I don't see the GPS coverage on the AIM site. Maybe I am missing it? I don't usually look for it since I am usually fishing it.
