Default 1860 angler reviews and help

Went down to the ranger dealer yesterday and was talking to them about the 1860 anglers. Now i have to say don't know the most about them starting to look into it and am looking for a little help, reviews and also options that people would say are must haves. They provided me with the list of options that a person can do and looking at 4 pages of options on a boat you don't know the most about isn't the easiest thing. Thanks in advance.

P.S. i would be looking at a 175 etech and they said they can get a new evinrude 4 stroke kicker as the only kickers that are said to be available on the list was merc and or yamaha.

Default A lot of research!!

I have spent the last two years doing research on the 1860. I will be ordering one this fall for spring delivery. Send me a PM if you want some information from the hours of research I have done.

I have a 2008 angler 1860. In my opinion, the best multiple-species, multiple-purpose platform out there. My only regret is not going for a 20 footer like the reatta 2050. Nevertheless, the 1860 is a great boat.

I have a 175 Suzuki, Yamaha t8, Terrova 101 for power.

Ranger options include:

Rails stern, sides, and bow
Interior lighting package
Venturi aeration in main live well
Bimini top
Snap in carpet
Stereo with sat radio

I run a 4-bank Minn Kota charger, Humminbird 1198 and 1158DI with Humminbird Ethernet network.

My 2007 Ranger 1860 with a 175 Optimax will have a top speed of 49-50. That is fast enough for me & I didn't buy the boat for speed. I like the fishability, stability and sense of confidence I have for larger bodies of water that I fish.

Default Ranger 1860

3-4 years ago someone on this forum suggested how to set up an 1860. I ordered it this way. It is worth repeating. Yamaha 4 strokes f150& 9.9. ( I'll catch flak for the yamahas but they opened up room and I couldn't find a complaint about reliability) put cranking battery in hatch in front of 150. Store tackle in what would have been oil and battery storage, terrova 60" 80lb thrust up front, full windshield for windy cold days, Bimini top for hot days, comes with onboard charger and cover, boarding ladder that has more than two rungs (the two step one I have is worthless unless your a gymnast) snap in,dark colored carpet which you immediately remove and store,(floor is wash and spray with carpet out) rails for gunwale, ram mount the console and deck graph and the trolling motor to secure and move so they are visible, auto and manual bilge pump. Set up this way will do 47 with a 4 blade 1 person, 46 with with two and a 4 blade prop, 51 with a 3 blade. Have fished thigh deep water for bass, small inland lakes, erie in 2-4's(rough) and salmon on ontario in 2-4's. Can troll into 1-3's without chasing the bow. On windy days when fishing tight canals, takes vigilance to control. Great little boat in my opinion.

If the boat is in stock boat at dealers, how difficult and costly to move starting battery, to area you in front of big motor. Does any one add the front windows to bimini? What is cost

No cost. I have windows and side curtains which I never use.

Sorry reread. In my case they were happy to move the battery and windows/ sidecurtains came with the Bimini top.
