Default Burn ban.....sort of.

This is an actual article from the newsletter that goes out to all of the residents where my parent have their cabin on the Pike Lake Chain in Norther Wisconsin:

An open letter to Pike Chain visitors and residents:

What can top the Pike lakes life-style in the summer? We all love "the Chain" for many different reasons—for fresh air, the simpler life in the country, fishing, and the joy of water activities.
But increasingly, our clean air is obliterated by noxious wood smoke from bonfires. Suddenly we have a summer of smoke. Some fishing friends lament the smoky air that is rampant at night, spoil-ing the atmosphere for them. My husband and I once relished din-ing on our deck at night with our family. But now, when wood smoke is in the air, we must re-treat indoors and close all win-
dows for the night, rather than breath its caustic fumes that contain can-cer-causing and hormone disrupting chemicals. Wood smoke is even implicated in premature death in people of all ages. But children, and anyone with breathing disorders or heart disease are especially vulnerable.
Wood smoke is chemically almost identical to tobacco smoke, but it is far more concentrated and travels
much farther. Wood smoke is bad for pets and wildlife too. And it also af-fects our water quality by depositing fine soot particulates into the lakes, paving the way for invasive species. For the facts, see www.burningissues.org or www.takebacktheair.com.
Please consider switching to gas or propane fire pits, which are cool and portable, without the toxic smoke. Because the lakes are for everyone to enjoy—not just those who burn wood.

Am I the only one that finds this ridiculous?

Well if it's 'noxious', people are burning green wood. A good hot campfire should hardly give off any smoke at all.

What a crock, she would definetly not last out west where the sun is orange now most summers. Last I checked the wildlife are doing fine and the civilized life is too... Smoke beyond her wildest dreams.

Exactly! But 75% of campfires the city folks burn on their getaways to the woods are noxious smoldering smoke screens offending other folks. I can't count how many times I've camped next to folks who leave their fires smoldering all day. Not being concerned about how your campfire smoke is affecting others, is just as ignorant as water lice roaring around you as you try to fish. Or folks partying all night with load music. If you want to burn a fire, burn it HOT, then put it out.

While I think that the letter from "Julie" is way "out there", it could be that they are having issues with neighbors that are clueless about proper campfie common sense.

What I don't understand what makes her a "tree hugging varmit" ?
