Default 2010 Lund fisherman GL windshield

I shattered my starbord side windshield today, I know in the past others have done this and had to purchase the entire windshield, how did you guy's get around this? or did you end up purchasing the entire thing for an outrageous price? please help
On another note, why did it shatter? I was simply going down the road being so nice, no bump's, no traffic, nothing! just a shatter.

Turn it into your insurance company. Take the boat where your insurance recommends and have the wind shield replaced.

As to why the windshield broke - as the old saying says. "stuff happens".

Take care

p.s.
Really no different than having an auto windshield replaced.

The only "bright" side of this is..you lost the starboard side.
Almost always it is the port side that get's broken.

There should be quite a few Starboard side units available out there.

I had the center part of my windshield shatter during a road trip once. Same thing as you...didn't know what happened or why...but it was shatter into a billion little pieces all over my boat. Took me 2 hours to clean it up.

The day it shattered there was a huge headwind I was fighting when pulling my boat. I was on the interstates for much of the time doing 75 mph or so. I think the windshield either took a big shot of wind and flexed enough to shatter it. The other thing is that it may have taken a rock somehow.

Since it was the center windshield portion that broke...I just went to a local glass shop and had them make me a tempered piece of glass for it.

Default Rock

Most likely a rock from your own vehicle. They get thrown up from a tire and at 50+ mph - well you get the picture. I probably have more chips on my window from the rocks of my vehicle than others. Hope you are able to find a single side. Then protect it somehow. Usually have mine covered for this reason.

I tarp my boat religiously, but this time I decided not to, since it's only a short distance to travel, now look what happened. the point is, don't neglect or compromise, your windshield gets broken if you do.

Probably your tow vehiclle threw up a stone or (?)......or a bird few across right then and connected with the windsheild. (Happened to me) .
I was just going down I-90, and a sharptaied grousel comes flying across... and Pow!...Took out the windhield of a customer's Ranger that I was towing.
