Default Rusty Nuts....

The screws and prop nut on my new-this-year Terrova have rust all over them. I don't remember this happening on the other trolling motors I had. It has been functioning just fine, but wondering if something isn't grounded properly????? Does this happen to all of them?

Did you purchase the motor new or second hand?
If the later, just maybe the original stainless parts were replaced.
Or was the motor exposed to any salt or salty road spray?

Change to stainless and the issue will go away.

Rusty metal parts should not happen on any trolling motor used in fresh water. Sounds like a warranty problem, due to substandard materials in the fasteners.

There is also some rust residue around the weld bead between the shaft and prop housing.

I would be calling MinnKota ASAP! They will take great care to fix the problem. IMHO

When I saw the title I thought for sure I'd open it up to see a post that somebody would recommend Monkey-butt Powder!
