I loaned my boat to my daughter and son in law. I live in Iowa, the boat is registered here as well as insured here.
Do I need to change anything on my policy do to the fact they will be using the boat in Michigan? Any help is always appreciated! houndog |

I would need to look at your policy to answer your question. Please give me a call and we can talk about your coverages. Thanks Bob Luellen 800-339-1235

Unlikely there would be any issue or restrictions regarding your insurance. You have given them permissions and you are not renting it out or using commercially. Should not matter where it is used,at least in the USA. But as suggested, you should look at your policy,or talk to your agent.
However, a possible separate issue.....if it is docked continuously on a lake or waterway in another state, you may have an issue with watercraft registration. Many states require re-registration,if an out of state watercraft is continuously docked and used over a certain length of time. Depends on if the department who has jurisdiction on that lake, chooses to enforce or not. ( Many are sensitive to summer home and vacation commerce, and may choose not to, for good will purposes. ) If sitting on a trailer,as opposed to docked in the water ,would never really be an issue. |
