rod fix?

A couple of years ago I bought a Thorne CRAFTED, (not Brothers) musky rod with an adjustable handle. I really enjoy using the rod and the adjustability of the handle. Now the problem. I showed my engineer Son the rod, and as I was explaining the handle operation, he gave it a twist and pulled it completely out of the rod. Now I cannot get it to "reconnect" with the rod. I tried the place where I bought it, and they cannot seem to give any advice that leads to success. As I remember, in the youtube vid, it was designed by Paul Thorne.

Anyone have any suggestion? I have been using handle tape. I functions, but looses it's adjustability.
