I'll be heading up to Keewaunee for some October Salmon fishing with my Trophy 185. However, this time i would finally like to hit Green Bay out of Sturgeon Bay, mostly areas like Larson's Reef or Hendersons's Point. I know that area is known for the night trolling cranks, but has anyone tried mid day trolling over those areas. With salmon fishing you are fishing early morning / late evening and nothing to do all day. I would also be willing to go after some small mouth and or perch if anyone has any ideas what areas to start and what to use (for small mouth) again in the sturgeon bay area.
Thanks as always for any information, I'll post reports if successful. |

Sorry for the slow reply,,,computer has been down for 10 days. Today is my first day being able to work on computer.
I've fished that area at least a dozen times that time of year, most of the fish were caught up high. Often times 10-15 feet off bottom. Planer boards were necessary to prevent spooking the walleyes and they also enabled us to spread our lines effectively. Used mostly spinners, but also have done well on crankbaits. Spend time looking for the walleyes, we rarely fish for them until we see signs of life on the sonar. Most of my time out there has been out of Oconto, but I've also fished out of Sturgeon Bay. Caught smallmouth good out of Sturgeon Bay last year,,,very clear water, make long casts. Let us know how you do. Best Fishes, Bob Jensen |

I have been fishing every week for the last month between SB and Egg Harbor doing extemely well for eyes at night. Seems like we catch alot more bass during the day and as soon as the sun goes down we start nailing the eyes.
Send me a PM closer to your trip and Ill let you know how we are getting them. |
