Default cannon downriggers

Hey all,my dad gave me a pair of cannon magnum 10a electric downriggers.Im getting ready to set them up in my boat and I was wondering if I should put them in fused and if so can anyone take a stab at the amps?They have circuit breakers but Im not sure that I trust them.Any info is greatly appreciated. Al

Trust the circuit breakers in 25years no issue.

Always use a fuse, even Cannon tells you to do so,
Use 20 Amp automotive style fuses, put them as close to the battery as possible.

Good advice! The circuit breaker is there to protect the motor on the downrigger. The fuse is to protect the wiring to the downrigger.

thanks,I installed a fuse block and ran 20's to the riggers.
