Default How big do perch get?

A friend at work said he caught a 16 1/2" and a 17" perch out of a small lake in central Wisconsin many years ago, is this possible? If this is possible how much would they weigh? What are the biggest perch you have seen? Thanks for the help!

Jeff.
Personally seen a 17 inch perch from Drummind Island back in the 60's when we would go there in the spring. Seen many over 12 back then to. Seen an 18 incher that came out of a commercial fishing net back in 1984. Norb Tacey who used to run the boat livery and baitshop near the Hot Ponds on Saginaw Bay, had that monster in his freezer for 2 weeks bragging he caught it by hand. Never did weigh it.

Not discrediting anything, atleast not trying to. Just answering the best I could. Took the info out of the back of the fishing rules book for 2003, and of the dnr web site.
Personal biggest perch was only 12 inches. Good eating though.
Best part is that my kids had a ball and made me clean 35 of them after the trip. 4 kids can sure eat alot. :)

Here on the finger lakes in upstate NY (mainly Seneca Lake)..15 inchers are not uncommon and we do see some 16 and 17 inchers on occassion! Some of these will be over 3 pounds! Too bad there are no walleye in these lakes! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

I was fishing of Frankfort pier in Lake Michigan, most everyone was using set rods with live alewive or casting spoons for browns, steelhead, lake trout, etc. This guy down the pier had a fish not fighting a whole lot (compared to steelhead), his buddy nets the fish and it looks like small walleye. It turns out to be yellow perch, close to 17", it looked like a mutant !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
