Default -58 degree windchill

As if that's not enough reason for a guy to stay home- here's another. My brother and his wife went fishing, and when it was time to go my brother headed toward shore with a sled full of gear. About half way to shore- he hears a scream- and turns just in time to see the wind pick up his 8by8 portable and roll it over my sister-in-law. So here comes his fishhouse, now rolling towards him, and as he put it "up to speed".He thought he would just grab it- he was wrong. He said in fact that it bowled him over without hardly slowing down- and did in fact- beat them back to shore. Other than a bump on my sister-in-laws head, and some repairs to the fishhouse being in order- there was no harm done. Except maybe to my brothers pride- as they were'nt the only people fishing and it was viewed by all. I personally would have paid good money to see it. Good luck to all-Lou in Alex.

Default One o' those days.....

Thats a good one,Lou....Read about another guy at Vermillion that was pulling out his new portable-lost control in the wind, and watched it slide across the lake to the open water, and sink....It was a gift from his wife and never had a minute of fishin' time.....some days it goes that way...the rats win the rat race...HA! Happy Holidays!!!!

Default Run-away ice houses

No sarcasm intended. Those portables are a lot easier to move when they're collapsed.

Default Runaway Shacks

A couple years back, I was on Pewaukee Lake in some major wind with no snow. The guy in the shack next to me, pulled the anchors out and was getting his truck ready to move. We heard a scream as his wife tumbled out of a shack that was accelerating. He got in front of the shack when it got "up to speed" and it knocked him out of the way. Fortunately, his new Explorer stopped the shack. The shack was undamaged, but the people and the vehicle got some bumps and bruises :)
