Default Whiplash

It is the same material as firelin only a braid. It is no secret that braided lines are stronger and thinner. Now 4lb diameter is 20 lb test instead of 10lb. It seems to be the best of both worlds so far. Fact remains it is a braid, thus it will hold debris and cause wear on guides. It is harder to tie knots in as well. For most walleye applications fireline is still the way to go. If the ever make a 2lb diameter that is 10 lb test then we will have something. Good luck and we shoul see ya next spring.

Default Whiplash

I assume it is microdyneema then. How is the body of the line? Limp like Spiderwire or some stiffness like Fireline? Thanks in advance. PS It will be great to see you in the spring, and it is nice to have real experts on hand. Thanks

Default Characteristics

The line is more limp than fireline, but has the 0 memory thing still. If you pill the line taught it will stay that way for a while, but not permanently like fireline. I have yet to fish it with in line boards, but with a mast and skis it is awesome. I like it for flatlining too. I have yet to loose a crank bait with the 20 lb test.

Default Johnnie - Could you Straigthen out Crank Hooks?

With 20lb whiplash were you are to straighten out
an hooks and get loose. I troll in areas with standing submerged trees 30 - 50' which really eat the crankbaits.

Default Straighten or bring it up

I have straightened many hooks and brought many other snags to the top. I haven't used it a lot around flooded trees, but fishing over roots and brush has been no problem. It brings tumbleweeds right off the bottom. Hope this helps.

Default Whiplash Line

I spooled one line counter with 30llb. Whiplash last summer and used it with dipseys in line boards and the big boards, with no problems. The line held up very well. I have been using Ironthread and love it , but you can't buy it any more so I tried this for an experment and it worked great. Have used Fireline in past and have lost lot of equipment it wears fast and will let you down on that big one. Just ordered 2000 spool of 50# test 12# Dia. I will spool up 16 counter reels for this summers trooling. I fish Erie and plan a trip to New York in Aug which will give it a good try on those 40# Salmon. Will give a report on it next fall GOOD FISHING "HUCK"

Default Whiplash Line

Huck,
When you put this line on your LC reels, do you use a "backing" ? If so is it mono ?......what size mono ?

Thanks

Default do you use a leader or tie direct?

Was wondering about this since you go for salmon, who tend to be leader shy. If you do, what type/size line and what knot do you use to join it to the main line?

thanks

Default Backing on LC reels

DO2& Byron Iuse 20# mono for a backing and Iuse a Uni-Knot to tie them together. I use this knot to tie all my lines together and have never had a failure. It has been tested a few times, you hold your breath when you see that knot going through the eyes on your rod with a big fish ripping abt a 100ft of your mono out. I use 30# leaders on my dipseys and hook it direct for boards or flat lineing. Looking forward to getting out again! See Ya,"Huck"
