I'm thinking about a trip into some warmer weather, the Walleye insider listed this as a good
spot but I would like to hear more about this area.

Don:
I fished open water crappie (successfully) last March with a retired conservation officer who lives in Manhattan, KS, and guides the lakes in that area. His name is Paul Miller and phone is (785) 539-7154. If I were in your situation, I'd give him a call, pick his brain, and arrange to fish with him for at least one day. He offers a no-frills trip during the week at an extremely reasonable rate. I haven't fished walleye with him, but would love to.
Have fun!

I have fished milford on my own and have done very well several times limiting out on eyes over 18 inches. The fish will be on classic spots shuch as main lake points and breaks also on flats and old road beds. I have done the best closer to the dam drifting jig and crawler but trolling cranks also works well. Hot and tots in fire tiger or chart. seem the best. There are a number of good points within three miles of the dam. I have never fished more than that, mileage wise from the main lake in any arm. The key is to stay mobile and find active fish then return later. Wind also plays an important part. Fish will be very shallow with agood wind 2-3 feet. Trolling when its flat. hope this helps.

I live 30min. from Milford and have fished it for years . My largest eye on the lake this last summer was an 8 in 4' of water Memorial Day . The Lake is open right now but the only thing biteing are crappie in 20 - 30' on the edge of the channel some large catfish are comeing out of 40 - 50' on cut bait . I have not heard of a walleye being caught on the main lake lately . The Corp of Eng. are curently dichargeing water at the outlet which always screws up the fishing . There are a few eyes being caught at the tubes .The other post about Paul Miller is good info. You could also call Pates at Milford or the Flagstop Campground for more info.

Hope this helps
