took the boat up for season and was thinking i would get out for a while. noaa was calling for 2 to 4 fri coming down to 1 to 3 sat, but that never happened.it was 3-5 all day never did stop blowing.i am 2 1/2 away in col,not that i didnt have other things i could do, as ready the campsite ,gather info,watch them dredge the inlet,check bait store opening times,ect, but this wave report seems to shank me alot of the time,IS THERE ANYWHERE I CAN GET AN ACURATE REALTIME WAVE REPORT??????? i did gather up some good fishin info,so it wasnt a total wash.

Try http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.phtlm this gives a hour to hour update of waves. The buoy may not be in yet. It is a big help in my decision to make the trip. I am in Hocking County so I know about the long drive for nothing. I have other good sites if you need. Bob

The National Weather Bouy is you best information available, that I know of. A lot of bouys are removed during the winter, but the one at South Bass is a year around. The only problem is, it does not have wave height. BUT is does give wind speed. My rule of thumb is, if the wind speed is above 10 knots its going to be rough. Much more and I stay in. 18 to 33 knots is small craft advisory.The address for S Bass is;
