Fishing buddies and I are wanting to go to Lake Oahe, probably middle to late June. Does anyone know if this a good time for walleyes? Also, any suggestions on lodging at the lake? We're planning on bringing two boats, and would like cabin facilities (kitchette, etc).
Thanks in advance! |

June would be a good time for Oahe. Last year was not quite as productive as years past, however I fish the area frequently and had very good luck. I recommend the reservoir above the dam, stay at Outpost Lodge, you can dock out of the Cow Creek boat ramp. Tom Olson runs the Outpost and he is very helpful in letting you know where the fish are biting. Good Luck

I have fished Oahe for years and have learned that June is a great time to be on the lake. Probabyl the best advise I can give you is to stay mobil, don't get locked in to one area. Oahe is a big big lake, if the fish aren't hitting where you are at, don't be scared to put your boat on the trailer and drive to another area, it could mean the difference between a full live well and an empty one. Good places to call for information are, Carls bait shop in Ft. Pierre, Sunset Lodbe at Bushes Landing, Akaska Bait in Akaska, Bridge City bait in Mobridge. Have a good time, and be sure to leave a few for seed.---------Ne-swede
