Went out of Lorain yesterday and caught 2 eyes on the sandbar off of Lorain Ford Plant. Saw other nets going into water too. Caught ours on perch weapons. We had to be in by 2pm so don't know if the fishing got better or that was the end. The storm blew in while we were heading in.

Me and a friend fished saturday afternoon (after the first storm came through) North-Northwest of Vermilion in 42' of water. We started marking lots of fish from the bottom all the way up to about 18'. Bait fish on top, big ones underneath them. We got set up and started fishing about 45 minutes when the wind hit us. We decided to go in closer in case it might be a thunderstorm. As we came in, it rained.
After we got in to about 35', the rain quit and it was sunny. We found lots of fish again and started pulling everything we could. We ended up catching 2 walleyes, one was about 10" and the other about 7 or 8", one while pulling a gold bladed worm harness(homemade, 50' behind a board w/1 oz weight) and the other on a xcuwm Scorpion spoon pulled behind a dipsey(35' back #3 setting). Both were released to grow up. We did catch quite a few sheephead(we stopped counting) including a 28" fish ohio that hit a watermelon reef runner about 200' back. At least that was fun to reel in. At the ramp I talked with several people that had taken walleyes from this same area earlier. Also spoke with 2 guys that had 5 steelhead in their cooler. They fished about 13 NE of Vermilion. Some 'eyes are there, just have to figure out what program to use to get 'em. Greg |
