Default Ashtabula

I was just out in Ashtabula on the 1st. Picked up 15 eyes. 12 of them were real nice ones (26-30) inches. Used big jons and dipseys. More luck with the big jons off of planer boards. Ran anywhere from 200-250 back. Good colors were watermelon, blue and silver, blue, pink and white, solid orange. Tried running plugs, but was waste of time. Also lost about a dozen fish. The bite was extremely light. Had three up to the boat that got off and many more that came off just after starting to reel. Went out of Kiester Marina about 15-18 miles. Can't remember coordinates (sorry).

We were trolling around 1.9 to 2.3 mph. Wind out of the south and trolled with the wind towards Canada. I don't know much about Coordinates, but when I looked at the G.P.S on the boat I think I remember something like 42' and 80' Does that sound like anything that could be right. Waves were two to four with an occasional bigger on, but mainly pretty good waves. Like I said, all worm harnesses, no spoons or anything. I know the ride back in was 20 miles, so I'd say we were out there 13-14 to start. Not a big pack of boats, only a couple of boats in the area we were in. We would run across an active mini-school and pick up two or three bites at a time, and then wait 30 min or so and pick up two or three more bites. Had six on at one time and only landed two. Really had to keep an eye on the poles because the fish bit real light. We were using Shimano reels, and ran the furthest line 11 passes (back and forth) and then the next 10 and the last on 9 for each side of boat. Dipseys went down 250 on line counters. Big Jons attached to the lines off of the boards. Little Big Jons that go down only 30-35 ft. Good luck and give me a post when you get back.
