Default Lorain sandbar location?

I don't have a GPS unit yet. Can anyone give me approximate miles and compass heading to the Lorain sandbar from the mouth of the Black River/Lorain Harbor?

Tim, I have not personally fished the sand bar as of yet, this year. Been doing well around the islands. I have had some good report of walleye being taken near the bar. If you go through Vermillin, stop at the "Outpost" and talk to Denny, he is up the authority on that area.

If you are going out of lorain, go to east side of the sandbar, more north than the compass heading given to you, look for the boats and start fishing, they are doing pretty good right now. most of the eyes are close to the bottom. it seems the eyes are hitting pretty consistant throuhgout the day now, not at a super fast pace, but fairly steady all day(as the wind and lake conditions allow) good luck and good fishin.

I too am interested in finding the sandbar but am usually launching from the Miller Rd. boat ramp in Avon Lake. Does anyone have the compass headings and mileage from that area?
