Default East Colorado Plains Lakes

Do any of the smaller plains lakes freeze? I was looking around and found some info. on some of the lakes out there and I would like to catch some panfish (crappie, blue gills etc..) through the ice. The DOW said Adobe Creek Res. is frozen over, but I can't find any info. on how thick it is and if it is safe to walk on. I would hate to go all the way down there if it is unsafe. If not, are there any lakes in Co. that have a fishable population of panfish that do freeze?

MOST OF THE EASTERN LAKES ARE CLOSED TO FISHING DURING WATERFOWL SEASON. YOU NEED TO CHECK WITH THE DOW TO SEE IT THE LAKE YOU WANT TO FISH IS OPEN TO FISHING. I LIVE ALONG SIDE OF PUEBLO RES. AND I WOULD NEVER TRUST THE ICE ON IT. I WOULD BE VERY CAREFULL ON ANY OF THE EASTERN LAKES. IF YOU WANT TO FISH TRY PUEBLO RES. NOW WITH A BOAT. MOST OF THE LAKE IS STILL OPEN.

GOOD LUCK

I'm headed out to Flagler Resivoir tommorow. It's a smalll impoundment located approx. 35 minutes East of Limon on I-25.The res is stocked with just about everything. We were out there in the spring and did real well on panfish. The resivoir is tucked down out of the wind so it should be frozen. I'll let you know.

I don't know when the water fowl season ends, but when it does I may make a trip to Bonny. last time I was there my partner and I caught ten eye's between 2-4 lbs and a 30 inch northern, plus a bunch of white bass. It looks like it might finally have a safe lid this winter I hope so because it is one of the few good lakes we have. I am afraid you may have to go home if you get a hankerin for perch or walleye fillets. As you probably have realized by now, keeper walleyes are few and far between in this state. I have heard that Nee Noshe is a good lake, but I usually drive north to Wyoming if I am going to drive that far. Goto www.wyomingoutdoorsradio.com for current ice conditions at Glendo.

I called the manager for Flagler before going on Friday they said thet the ice was still not thick enough so i did not go out East.I did end up taking a couple of freinds out on Aurora Saturday morning we finally got a nice 26" Walleye snap jigging a Kastmaster in 21' of water.I also Called Bonny they said the lake is frozen but there is only about 1-2" of ice.

Neal,
I was out at Bonny Thursday the 28th hunting and unless you are a goose or a duck, stay off that ice. It is thin and has a big hole in the middle. I guess 99% of the lake is frozen except for the spot where the geese and ducks sit. Duck hunting is pretty good though. Lakes that far east usually dont get hard enough for ice fishing. As soon as hunting season ends, I'll make a few trip to Pueblo - I'll e-mail you to see if you and Eric wanna go.

I went up to Flagler on Sat. The inlet portion of the lake is not frozen, but the north end by the dam has about 4 1/2 - 5 inches of ice. I fished for awhile and caught one channel cat. Some of the smaller ponds on hwy. 94 are frozen. 4-5 inches of ice.
