I'm hearing that LBDN is not doing so well right now with the fishing. Anyone been there in the past week or so? I'm hearing a lot of slush and no bit.

Speaking of BayShore Resort,
When you call up there, get the information about the Max Steichert, Kids-First, Fishing Fest being held on Little Bay de Noc on Feb. 10th. This is the 4th annual event and all are welcome! There are several age catagories and the top in each catagory will get a trophy. All kids that register will recieve a grab bag. There is free eats, Coffee and Hot Chocolate, and many door prizes as well as prizes for top finishers. Even if you have never been ice fishing there will be a limited amount of gear available, or BayShore can get you set up for around 20 bucks. There are local Pro's, guides and Touring Tournament Pro's on hand to help you out. GHoles will be drilled for you if needed, and we can always use an extra auger Jockey or two to help out. Come out and Have Fun......R PS. We are always looking for help in the form of prizes and items for the grab bags (jigs, ice jigs, line clippers etc.) E Mail Me or call Connie or Naomi at BayShore if you would like to be a part of this continually growing event. (375 kids last year) |

ranger1-
I'm going up mid Feb, heard this is typically best bite for big eyes. Anyhow, try these websites. - www.sallmarresort.com(go to "reports") - www.hawgheaven.upmichigan.net/(email Mark Peloza, he's an excellent guide, not a charter captain. He will give you honest info. on whats happening. He also posts on sallmarresort. Hope this helps, let me know how you do. |

At this time, the bite isn't all that good. This time off year, midwinter, is typically the toughest time to hit good fish there. Your best bet, if you go now, is to use smaller lures. I fished an area last year at this time off Vagabond Resort. I had fish moving through constantly but had a hard time getting them to go. I went to a #2 Gold Swedish Pimple and caught a few. If you wait till mid to late February, it will get better. The fish migrate North throughout the winter and the bite is good usually then. I will be there the last 8 days of the season. Best bets are Jigging Rapalas, Swedish Pimples, Whistler Jigs, and tip-ups with 3-5" suckers. Good luck.
