Default Pymatuning Puzzle

I know many of you read and post regarding Pymy. So perhaps someone can clear this up for me. I fish Mosquito, West Branch, and Berlin. These lakes all have good ramps. I find that at Pymy there are often no rubber bumpers on the walls (Pandaram sp). Or boards may be missing from the wall and metal spikes protruding. And if you have someone handicapped or eldery with you they have one heck of a time getting into the boat. They must sit on the wall and be assisted into the boat. Why is this?? Facilities are much better at Mosquito and West Branch. Why doesn't ODNR do something to improve Pymy? I emailed them last year and they replied they wanted to make some improvements. I emailed them again this year to get an update and they have not responded. The State put a lot of $$ into Mosquito this year. Why is this lake ignored? Especially when it is heavily fished.

RB,

I have never had the pleasure of fishing mosquito, I'm a PA angler so Pymy is basically our common thread. I find the ramps to be in fairly good condition on the Pa Side. I admit I've never used the Ohio Ramps but the one at linesville (marina) is very nice, well maintained and well lit. (makes it nice coming off the water late and packing up the boat) Other no-frills ramps also have lighting, although limited, and very well maintained floating docks and ramps. If you are dissatisfied with the Ohio facilities give ours a try. Linesville is really very nice and the docks would be reasonably accessable to elderly or disabled anglers. Hope it helps and good fishing!!!!

I likewise agree some of the Pa. docks need some repairs, particularly the dock at Tuttle Pt. It has a number of bolts and nails protruding or uncovered. I have done some damage to the sides of my boat when loading or unloading even having boat fenders. I have considered buying the fenders that attach to the inside and cross over the gunwale. Maybe if enough fisherman bring this to their attention it would be corrected.

Don't get me started!!! You think the ramps are bad...try using the restrooms of the PA. side. In fact do yourself a favor. Find a tree to hide behind...and some loose bark or leaves. You'll be better off. I guess we're not living in the right end of the state where they get $30,00o restrooms

I agree, the ramps are deplorable on the Ohio side. I fish Mosquito and West Branch five days a week from March through November. The only difference I see in the lakes is the limited horsepower on Pymatuning that I totally agree with. Could it be that the ramps at Mosquito and West Branch are excellent because of the skiiers, Sseadoos, and Bajas, not just fishermen as on Pymatuning?? I would fish Pymatuning a great deal more, but if you get a wind out of the East and try to launch, especially by yourself, you will destroy your boat!
